One hot race and more marathons...

Only about 11 days until the marathon!
It it looking like it will be a hot one.
Luckily it starts way up a canyon, so it should be cooler...
for the first while, at least.
Until it's not anymore- and it's just hot.
My only real goal is to finish under 4 hours,
so that should get me across the line by 9:30am.
Hopefully the heat will hold off that long!

We got a few reprieves from the blazing sun.
A little summertime rain:

Oh, it was still HOT...
but the sun was covered by clouds, so it felt like a break.
(excuse the weird pic.  I couldn't find a better shot showing that it was really raining)

Moving on!

A couple of months ago,
I won a free entry to a Rock n Roll race.
It could be any open race, except Vegas (the only one sort of nearby!),
Washington, DC or any of the international races.

So here I am- already signing up for marathons in 2013!
The husband has never been to Seattle, the kids will be out of school-
AND we can then drive on down to Oregon
to spend the 4th of July with my family.
Win-Win-kind of Win.
That "kind of Win" is for the husband, who doesn't really
like being away from home for that long.

I HAVE heard that this race is challenging- hills and all that.
Still, the altitude is about 5000 feet lower than where I am-
Seriously.
Maybe that will help.

I have also already signed up for the Salt Lake City 2013 marathon-
because they were having a blitz sale.
First 50 people paid $30 for the marathon.
Couldn't pass that up...
I have issues.

  2. What?? 30 bucks for a marathon? I've never heard of such a screaming deal? How did I miss out on that one? I wish so baD I could run the Deseret News Marathon. It's just too close to my half on July 28th. I am afraid I would be so wasted. Yes it will be hot and I am so sorry about that. I just about cooked on my pink donut half and realized then and there I hate running in the heat. Good luck though, you seem very ready. Sub 4 hour is amazing!

  3. You have quite the list of races on your schedule! How fun and it's great that you get to combine a marathon with a vacation. I see on your sidebar that there are only 84 days until the St. George Marathon!! I have got to get in shape! Good Luck with your upcoming marathon!
