So far so good this week.
I've gotten my workouts in, including strength and cross-training.
This week is less packed full of stuff, so that helps.
I put my workout plan for the week on my phone
and that seems to be some motivation, too.
I've even become less scared of the free weight area at the gym.
Yay for me.
I know it's silly, but it's always so crowded with already buff people.
Then there's me over in the corner with my 5 lbs weights.

Okay, sometimes I use 10 lbs.
I won't get any stronger if I don't venture forth.
I am slowly realizing that I don't really care what the
strangers at the gym think about me ;).
In other news,
Oldest child participated in his first chess tournament!
He looks super pleased to be having his picture taken.
I believe the husband made him pretend to be playing
so he could take the picture that I requested.
He did pretty good- I'm proud of our D-man.
He's always asking me to play chess with him...
and I am absolutely terrible at it.
I usually say:
"Go ask Dad. Come to me when you want to play checkers."

Cute little chess player! I just want to kiss his serious little face!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a chess player, I used to play when I was younger, but I haven't played in awhile, maybe my son will like it too.
ReplyDeleteGreat job getting over your fear of the free weights area at the gym, you will be using the 20s in no time :)
I always just tell myself that if everyone at the gym is as self absorbed as I am no one will ever notice what I do. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a smarty pants! Great job! He'd kick my trash for sure, I'm terrible at that game, I have no foresight.
Ahhhh!! This reminds me I need to get my body back to the gym for weightlifting. I am such a slacker in that area.
ReplyDeleteThere is a St. Patrick's Day Half Marathon in the Saratoga Springs area on the 16th of March. You ought to come join in the fun!
Your response to your son sounds very familiar. I always say the same thing.....let's play checkers. Congrats on the trophy!
ReplyDeleteOK, so I have you as a "friend" on daily mile, and am really inspired by your posts as I look through them this morning (mom of 5 ;); then I discover THIS BLOG! So cool! :D I am a mom of 4 who also just started running (and blogs :o). But you run more. I actually did my first half marathon in 2012 then started doing triathlons last year. There was a tragic event just after my last triathlon - which affected me for a while; basically, I'm just starting to work out faithfully again since then (6 months ago). I'm good now. I'm OK. No, I'm great now! :D Just happy to be in the game again and anxious to keep moving forward! Nice to see you here and I will probably visit you here again.
ReplyDeleteCorine :D
Just had to say 'hi'! I'm a '30 something' running mom of 5 kiddos-how neat! Loving your blog. Great job on getting the workouts in this week!
