Races, long runs and sledding...

First post of February!
My favorite month of the year!
(yes, it is birthday month)

Running has happened.
6 miles on Friday that I did for the 5 by the 5th
Virtual Race Series that I signed up for through Mommy Run Fast!
 (source)
I didn't so much race it, but I did my 5 miles :).

Then I did 18-20 miles on Saturday afternoon.
I don't know for sure how far,
because once I got to where I planned to start-
my Garmin wouldn't turn on.
I thought maybe I hadn't charged it but it still won't turn on.
(What is the life expectancy for a Garmin 305? It's about 2 years old.)

Anyway- I really wanted to just not run 18 miles...
but I was already out, so I decided to run for 3 hours
and assume that I would get at LEAST 18 miles in.
It went pretty well and I kinda liked not knowing how
far or how fast I was going- just running and running.
I suppose I could try to map it, but I haven't yet.

Before all the running on Saturday,
we took the kids sledding at the hill by our house:
See all the smog in the background there?
The inversion has returned.
Poor little b-boy crashed and got a little snow-burn:
He sort of rolls with things, so it didn't stop him for long.

Someone had built a "jump" on the hill.
At this point it was more like a wall-
but the kids kept trying it:

Doesn't that look like fun?

Not so much, huh?
I swear he wanted to do it.

  1. My garmin did that once. I had to reset it by holding a few buttons at once. I can't remember what they were, but I'm sure a quick google search will find the answer for you.

  2. If it comes back to life for you, let me know how you did it - mine is dead too!

  3. My Garmin stopped working once half way into a race...we were not friends that day. Since then it has worked fine though. I would love sledding there!!!

  4. Thanks for doing the 5 by the 5th series! And way to go on your 20! There is definitely something nice about not knowing pace and distance some days.
