It turns out that the laryngitis didn't affect the 20 mile run.
My throat felt tight and swollen, so I had to slow it down
and bit and keep my breathing in check, but it wasn't bad at all.
Except 20 miles did not happen.
You know what did affect the whole 20 mile run?
Me not getting myself up and out the door soon enough.
I spent too much time laying in bed deciding if I should run.
I went to run at the Olympic oval but didn't get there until
5:50ish and had to be done by 8:30.
I was able to get a good 16 miles in, though...
approximately 58 times around the track.
Then my girls had dance team practice
and the husband had a volleyball tournament.
He loves when I come watch him play...
especially when I yell stuff like that at him.
(He won... a $7 gift card to Wal-Mart. Score)
So, my kids have been really into "exercising" these days...
which makes me feel pretty darn awesome about what
a fabulous influence we are on them ;).
They are always asking when we can exercise again.
I wasn't feeling well most of last week and may not
have moved at all if it weren't for these kids.
Our current favorite family activity is doing planks:
They have me time us for 1 minute and I love
hearing them alternate between laughing, grunting
and exclaiming "How much time left now?!?".
We know how to have a good time.
They are also completely enthralled with The Biggest Loser.
They just stand there and watch intently until they start
exercising and then they try to copy what the contestants are doing.
Occasionally they ask "Why is that lady yelling at them again?".
Hopefully we can be a lasting, lifelong healthy influence on them...
through running, volleyball, planking and Jillian Michaels.
Your kids are awesome! That's so fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that you ran around a track that many times! Holy cow! I'd probably rather do that then run on a treamil though. I'm glad you are feeling well enough to run, even if it isn't quite 100% yet.
Nice job at least getting in 16 miles under those conditions, definetly better than nothing, love the family planking!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously should run the Olympic Oval New Years Race. I think you would have a blast with lots of other runners there at the same time.
ReplyDeleteBiggest Loser is my all time favorite show. That's so awesome that your kids get into it too.
I hate planks...but Paul and I just had a competition the other night, and if you must know...he won!
